Rethinking Curriculum: What if “Normal” is the Problem?

For all education professionals.

After rising to the challenge of Covid-19, which changed learning almost overnight, we are now either back to business-as-usual in schools or to a blended version of what used to be normal.

But, what if “normal” is the problem?

How equipped are we for the global anti-racism movement that will continue to gain momentum and will no longer tolerate our ‘one-size-fits-some’ approach?

How ready are we for our changing national PLD priorities: cultural capability, local curriculum design, assessment for learning, and digital fluency?

The Government’s vision is for a more inclusive, equitable, and connected New Zealand education system, but that won’t be realised unless we confront the questions: who is teaching; who is being taught, what is being taught, and why and how are we teaching that content?

Time: 1 hour
Cost: $50 for individuals (inc GST), $250 for schools/institutions/groups (inc GST)

Colouring in your Virtual White Spaces

For all education professionals

This webinar was viewed by over 2,000 educators on 14 April and many have asked to view it again or to use it with their staff as professional development.

Our schools faced dramatic change almost overnight in 2020. Some, myself included, hope we took this opportunity to completely rethink what we have offered in the past, and do our level best not to repeat that.

Let's not make the same mistakes online as we've made with our face-to-face learning environments. I cover some challenging topics in this webinar. Don't miss it if you want to develop critically conscious, culturally sustaining, learning spaces - both remotely and in your physical spaces in the future.

Time: 1 hour
Cost: $25

(This fee provides access to the webinar, which you are welcome to share and view with your immediate colleagues. If those colleagues then want to share it further I would ask that they purchase their own access.
